Memories of your first Yankees game?

It was 32 years ago today - August 7, 1976 - that I attended my first Yankee game . It was Old Timer's Day and many of the old greats were still alive and attended the event. Mantle was only 44 at the time and still suited up and played in the Old Timer's Game. Here is a photo of Mantle from that day.
(Yes, we had great seats.)
Do you remember your first time to Yankee Stadium? Any cool memories?

My first Major League Baseball game, ever, was in 2005. Jeter hit his first grand slam and it's when I fell in love with the Yankees. - Stephanie, Edwardville

My first Yankee games were at Shea Stadium in 1975 vs. the Royals for a weekend series. My first game at "The Stadium" was the next year. I don't remember when or who they played.

My first game was in '72, but my best Stadium memory was in '78 when I went to see the Oakland A's. I was sitting in left field near the outfield wall when Oakland brought in a rookie replacement in the later innings. It was Dwayne Murphy (who ended up having a pretty good career). He was so new, that they didn't even have a number for his uniform yet. The fans in left field were relentless. Dwayne tried to ignore it all -- but he definitely had an ear full. At the end of the game I waited for the players to load the Oakland team bus. I was talking to John Henry Johnson (a pitcher) as he sat by one of the open windows. I asked if I could talk to the player who didn't have a number. You would have thought I insulted his mother! Dwayne leaned out the window and started yelling "I'm gonna come out there and kick your a@#!!" I told him that it wasn't me who was heckling him -- but it didn't matter. I can still see the veins popping out of his neck. :-) My second most memorable experience was stepping off the curb near one of the gates and almost getting hit by President Nixon's limo. (He often attended the games while living in NJ.) My third most memorable was seeing Tom Seaver win his 300th game as a White Sox pitcher in '85 (I believe) -- Bob, Tunkhannock
