The Yankees evened the World Series last night at 1-1 with a great 3-1 win over the Phillies at Yankee Stadium. Pedro was very good, but A.J. Burnett was even better. This really felt like an old Yankees/Red Sox game with Pedro on the hill. Tight game. Yanks get a few runs off him in the middle innings and turn it over to Mo. We've all seen it many times. If we can somehow get 2 of 3 in Philly, we're in good shape. Huge win last night. A.J., Tex and Matsui may have saved the series.

Everybody's talking about how the umps blew two calls last night:
1. One in the Phils favor - the play Ryan Howard made at first, where it looked like the ball hit the ground.
2. One in the Yanks favor - the double-play with Utley, where it looked like he was safe at first.
But what about the double that led to the Phillies first run? That ball really looked foul on several replays, yet the FOX guys made nothing of it. Did anybody else think that it really looked foul?
Between that, and then the guy scoring on a ball A-rod should have had, Burnett really should have had a shutout, or at least no run charged to him.
The man stepped up huge. He deserved a pie.
Too bad the Yanks aren't on the radio in NEPA. I would kill the volume on the TV and listen to the radio broadcast. Buck is unbearable.
I had a Phillies fan bragging to me about how Manny needed "extra security" when he played in Philly. Is that really something to brag about?
Neanderthals.
That ball did look foul on the replay. Why did FOX brush it off?
We need Andy to come up big in game 3 and AROD/Damon/Cano to start hitting
We need 2 out of 3 in Philly
Another thought ...
I came into the series thinking that Rollins was a cool guy and disliking Utley. I have done a complete turn. I am starting to think Rollins is an asshole and Utley is cool. I thought he and Cano were even at second, but Utley is a better player.

All the Phillies have confidence. Utley is a monster hitter.
I havent seen the Yanks confidence yet. We need to step on their throats and win game 3 big. Phillies need to feel some pressure.
Agree ... A-Rod need to get going. I think he will.
I thought I was the only one who thought that ball was foul..me and the guy in the stands yelling to Damon that it was a foul ball. Buck is annoying, but McCarver is UNBEARABLE. The other two plays were completely blown as well. I also wonder why nothing was really said about the double play in the first game involving Matsui. First off, I'm pretty sure that was an infield fly rule scenario..which wasn't called. That's the whole point of the rule. Matsui was sort of crossed up and decoyed by both the shortstop AND the ump. A very sketchy play to say the least. Probably would not have made a difference in the game, but it was just another example of bad umpiring IMO..
I watched the YES postgame, then flipped around and found the Comcast postgame replay. It is amazing what whiney crybabies they are on Comcast. ..whining about the blown calls against the Phillies, with no mention of the other blown calls. The YES guys are just so much better and more professional in every way.
As for Rollins, he always has, and continues to be a complete asshole. Can you imagine Derek Jeter saying "Yanks in 5!" I see postings on the internet from Philly fans who are just SOOOO cocky, hating on Jeter. How can you be a baseball fan - or even a human being - and find anything to hate about Jeter, especially when you have Rollins who apparently has diarrhea of the mouth?
I will be SO HAPPY if the Yanks win this one.
Let me just say, "I can't take it anymore"! Joe Buck and Tim McCarver have got to go. During last nights game I actually watched a half of an inning with my sound muted. I just could not take them elevating Pedro Martinez to sainthood. You would swear he was invited to the Last Supper! He is crafty, intellegent, a warrior, humble amongst other things. Are you F'n kidding me? All Buck and Timbo could talk about was Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, Pedro. They showed him on the mound, in the dugout, in the bullpen, at his "Who's Your Daddy" press conference and of course throwing 72 year old Don Zimmer to the ground. They even talked him up on the Post Game Show even though he was the losing pitcher. I got such a fill of Pedro that I actually threw up in my mouth during the 6th inning!
They totally forgot that AJ Burnett pitched the game of his life to pull the Yankees back into this thing. It is painfully obvious that Joe Buck wants the Yankees to lose. He has always been a Yankee hater and continues to radiate that in his broadcast. As for McCarver, lets put the old bastard down once and for all. He has got to go. His "Coupier'" reference exploded baseball fans brains all over the country. I know I spelled it wrong as did Kim Wi Fong in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. In fact when he uttered the word my mind went blank for at least 5 seconds.
For Game 3 I am franticlly searching for alternate announcers such as John Miller and Joe Morgan. I just can't take these two idiots anymore. God help us if the series goes to Game 5 and 6 because Pedro will pitch again.
Jim McCabe
Fox also failed to say anything about the fact it could have been Matsui's last game at Yankee Stadium, or possibly his last game ever in the United States. I don't think anybody is going to win all three games in Philly, so the series is probably coming back to NY, but if it doesn't, he is probably done. With no DH in Philly, he won't play much, if at all.
He has had a very fine career with the Yankees and has been here for a long time - seven years. He's hit lots of home runs and has driven in lots of runs. It certainly deserved a mention, especially since he had one of the biggest hits of the night.
FOX blows it again.
AJ came up huge but there are BIG offensive problems. Im not sure how many pitches were thrown total to Damon last night, but I am willing to bet it was less than 5 over all of his at bats. The yanks have looked flat if not outright bad at the plate for 16 out of 18 innings played.
Anyone know if Mo can go 3 tomorrow night? We all know Andy isn't making it past the 6th against that lineup.
I think the key to this series could very well come down to outfield defense. If it does... we are screwed. They are far superior.
That said, a win is a win. Aj has earned his stripes. 0-8 with 6 Ks is not the way I had hoped Arod would follow up what should have been an MVP alcs but he can turn it around with 1 swing.
Go Yanks
Philadelphia papers yesterday had a headline of "Yanks avoid sweep"
seems Rollins isnt the only one trash talking

Can't believe some of this "Now you're coming to our place" nonsense from Philly fans.
Do they really think the Yankees will be intimidated at all about playing in Philadelphia? They must be out of their minds. This is the same team that has been going up to Fenway Park 10 times a year for 100 years and kicking ass. A Yanks/Sox game on a Tuesday night in May has just as much juice as most postseason games, and the Yanks went up there just a few years ago and swept five straight. A bunch of front-runners waving pom-poms or whatever it is that they do will not phase them at all. Been to Atlanta for the "chop," been to Minnesota for the "hankies," been to L.A. for those stupid red things they like to play with ... whatever. I actually think the Yanks like it.
Phuck Philadelphia.
