LET'S GO YANKEES ...

You had to love the beat down A-Rod put on Tampa Bay on Sunday. It was complete bush league to not pitch to Texiera and give him a shot at 40 home runs. The Twins/Tigers beat the hell out of each other for the past two weeks, so the Yanks are set up pretty good for the ALDS. Slightly concerned about Posada not catching in Game 2 because of Burnett. Having a switch-hitting catcher with power - who is also one of the leaders on the team - playing in the game is usually a good thing. A.J. better win.
THIS IS IT FOLKS.
11 games to go for #27.
LET'S GO.

Never used to hate the Twins. Liked Kirby Puckett, Jack Morris and their old manager, Tom Kelly. But they screwed the Yanks in the Santana trade. They wanted the WORLD from the Yanks, but took much less from the Mets. Since then, I have hated the Twins. Also, not a big fan of contant flag-waving type stuff at games ... towels, hankies, monkeys of whatever it is that Angels fans do. Hope to kick the dirt out of them in three.

That was a great win last night. Jeter steps up, as always, and CC gets the post season blues he had to deal with last year out of his head. He's on normal rest this year, so hopefully he'll continue to pitch well. Nice night for A-Rod last night as well. After leaving men on in scoring position in his first two at bats, he could have thought "Here we go again," but he came through later in the game. Nice.

I'm annoyed about Posada not playing on Friday. The guy worked his way back from shoulder surgery and had a fine season. He is a clutch hitter in the playoffs and a switch-hitter with power. He is one of the leaders on the team. I suppose Girardi could try to sell it to Jorge as, "Hey, Varitek sits for Wakefield in Boston," but it's not the same. Varitek can't catch the ball when Wakefield throws it. This is some type of personality thing. I would have told them both two months ago: "You guys better work it out, because Jorge's catching in the playoffs."

Posada's only comment has been, "We better win the game."

He's right. - Mel

There are stories in the NY Post and NY Daily News in which Burnett totally insists this was not his move and that he's fine pitching to Posada. Check it out:

Yanks knock Twins down in three, Angels knock Sox down in three... ALCS should be a good match up. Buckle up, it's about to get serious.
