The Yankees are now 30 games over .500 - yes, 30 games - with a record of 73-43.
The Yankees have the best home record in MLB and are 41-18 at the new Yankee Stadium. Home finally feels like home.
The Yankees lead all of MLB in home runs with 179.
How sweet it is. They've come a long way from the team that some of us - myself included - described as "unwatchable" at the start of the season. Major props to Phil Hughes for really stepping up and helping anchor the bullpen. And Texiera? Perhaps the best free agent signing in 10 years.
And on we roll ...

Very surprised by Damon. He's been better than ever than year. Also also big reason the season is going so well.
Yanks are also leading league in total runs. They are a machine.
Yankees are leading MLB in attendance as well. The new Stadium is awesome.
Tex is quickly becoming my favorite because of his defense.
Berg I absolutely agree with you. Though anything would have been an improvement over Giambi, Tex has been so much more than that and also doesn't grandstand. This is a guy who routinely wins close games for the Yanks in non-dramatic ways - by saving runs from scoring early in games because of great defensive plays. And his offense doesn't suck either.
Al - Arguably? Tex is definitely the best signing in the last 10 years. Who else comes close? Not Damon. Not Giambi. Certainly No pitchers - Pavano, Jared Wright, Kevin Brown, Kyle Farnsworth etc - the list of failed pitching free agent signings in the last 10 years is astounding). Not the resigning of former Yanks past their prime (Tino Martinez, David Welles). Not Sheffield.

I can't think of a better signing either. Mussina, who signed after the 2000 season, was worth the money. He won a lot of games. A-Rod came in a trade, so he doesn't fit into the discussion. Sheff was actually very good for a few years, so he was a good signing, but I can't think of any free agent player that has offered such great offense AND defense. You might have to go back 28 years, to 1981, and Dave Winfield. - Alan
Yankee fans were spoiled at 1st base from 1984-2001 during the Donnie/Tino era. For 17 straight years, they had a gold-glover at first. Tex has brought it back.
Son is the glue to this team...I know people look at numbers for MVP...not that Tex getting it would be a bad thing cause I'm really liking this guy, but Jeter is much more than just numbers to this team!
I also like the childlike look Tex gets sometimes when he's playing, like money is an added bonus for playing the game.
