Cheats ...

Reports say that Manny Ramirez and David "Big Papi" Ortiz have been named in same MLB steroids report from 2003 that got A-Rod in so much hot water back in February. Let's see if it's treated the same way, with days and days of non-stop media coverage. Will there be a big press conference in Boston for Papi, like the Yanks had to do with A-Rod? Will there be a special sit-down interview on ESPN with Peter Gammons? I doubt it. But hey, whatever. The fact is the greatest team in BoSox history, the 2004 club, continues to get more and more tainted. For some thoughts on that, read the comments, and please share yours ...

BoSox fans will try and come back with something about Clemens or A-Rod, but the fact is the greatest team in their history (2004) is looking to be very, very tainted. With with the Yankees, if you want to talk about a few players from the 1999 or 2000 teams, it's a very fair point, but there are still 24 other championships for the Yanks to lean on. Sox fans don't have that, and I enjoy that.

No Yankee fan in their right mind would argue that we've had some cheats as well. Giambi, Sheffield, A-Rod ... they were all a big part of the 2004 Yankees. But they didn't win anything, so it doesn't really matter that much to us. The '04 team is not the most celebrated team in Yankee history, but that IS the case for the Red Sox. That's why all of this stuff probably bothers their fans much more. And considering how full of themselves they've gotten in recent years, that's fantasic.

To all you who said "I don't think Papi did roids" I TOLD YOU SO. There was no doubt in my mind...

... so far it's been hitters for the most part, but I think the real story with 'roids is going to be the pitchers... just look at the numbers. Numbers don't lie. 4Nearly 40 year old guys throwing faster than they did in their 20's, that's just not natural.

QUOTE FROM TORRI HUNTER:

"I still love him, but at the same time it's tough to hear that," Hunter told ESPN.com. "I know it's going to be tough on him and tough on his family once this gets out. It's Big Papi, man, it's the Big Dog of Boston and he helped win two World Series with those guys, with the clutch hits. And now all those things are going to be tainted."

It's time! It's time to release the list of all the players that tested positive in 2003. The players want it released, the coaches want it released and the fans want it released. Let's put this thing to rest and move on with the game. I watch the Yankee games every night and I look at guys like Papi, Mags Ordoniez, Placido Planco, Pudge and others who all of a sudden can't hit or have lost 10 to 20 pounds and wonder, were they on the juice? I think it is safe to say that they were. I see all of the quad, pec and labrium injuries and wonder, are all of these guys off the juice so now their bones and tendons cannot take the pressure? I watched Ortiz talking to reporters yesterday and commenting that he could not give a statement because he had to get more information. Who is he kidding? he has to talk to his agent so they can put a prepared response together so he won't look so bad. I think they call that "damage control". It's time these guys admit to it, take the punishment like big boys and move on. Always remember, fans are forgiving.
