Sweep in L.A. puts focus on Wild Card

Wow. I don't think I've seen the Yanks get blown off the field in such a complete way since ... well, since the 2002 playoffs, which was also at the hand of the Angels. The Angels line-up has no players in the Top-10 of any catgerory, yet they are just killing people. For the Yanks, it's a Wild Card race from here on out. It seems like it was just yesterday they'd cut the division lead to 2.5 games, but it's over. They will not win the East.

The Yanks just blow right now..period. Some may disagree, but I blame a lot of this current slump on Pudge. Our pitchers were rolling along until he came in. They love pitching to Molina - maybe even more than Posada, and Moeller was acceptable during Molina's off days.

Enter Pudge..with his tiny mit and huge ego..and everything goes to crap. The bullet proof bullpen turns into batting practice for the opposition. The starters do pretty much the same.

I get why they made the trade, but it appears to be one of those things that just upsets the balance and chemistry that they had worked 4 months to finally get going. In Pudge's defense, yes - it's tough to come in and learn a new staff. Well..didn't the Yankees know that too? Did anyone there look at the calendar before moving on this?

Interesting point about Pudge. He said all the right things and seems thrilled to be a Yank, but he may have caused a disturbance in the force. Still, can't blame Cash for making the move.

Another interesting point..and I didn't even know this..but Michael Kay last night said that Pudge has not been involved in ONE win yet since coming over. I knew it was bad, but not that bad...can't blame last night on him though..can't win without scoring any runs.

Wow. Didn't realize the Yanks have not won a game with Pudge catching.
